Zephaniah 3: 17 The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

      Resting in Jesus peace

Isaiah 26:Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength:

      AMEN

Peace is not an absence of trouble

You can be in the biggest turmoil and still have Jesus Peace

In the natural it doesn’t make sense to have peace in turmoil

In the Spirit (supernaturally) you can be filled with Jesus Peace

World Peace is harmony tranquility based on outside comfort in the sensory realm

Spiritually Jesus peace is rooted in the Supernatural

Psalms 29: 11 The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.

Jesus Said: John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

YOU let not you heart be troubled

Getting your mind on Jesus (and the things of God) will keep you heart from being troubled

Psalms 91: 1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Psalm 91:He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Psalm 57: 1Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.

Keep yourself in the shadow of the Almighty!

Psalm 91:I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

How do you start your day?

Do you start your day with Jesus?

The Lord is with me, Emmanuel; therefor I’m ALWAYS walking in Kingdom success!

Psalm 127:It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Psalm 127: (AMP) It is vain for you to rise up early, to take rest late, to eat the bread of [anxious] toil—for He gives [blessings] to His beloved in sleep.

Jesus is the bread of life, AMEN

Remember your eye and ear gates: what are you receiving?

      Shut off the news.

Are you eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil or the tree of life?

      You are what you eat.

Proverbs 4: 20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

Where is your attention: On the problem (anxiety) or on the Promise of God (Peace)?

Stay in the Shadow of the Almighty, you have a refuge in His wings.

      today's verse

"So we don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever."

      2 Corinthians 4:18

We see trouble all around: economic hardship, illness, evil all over the world. This verse corrects our perspective. Remember that the current troubles will pass away. Look to the things that will not pass away, and invest in those. Invest in relationships, in God's goodness, in what he's doing now in the world. Invest in heaven and the joys to come. This is not escape from reality, but escape to reality.

      today's verse

"Laughter can conceal a heavy heart,
but when the laughter ends, the grief remains."

      Proverbs 14:13

No doubt there are people in your world who are experiencing the truth of this proverb. Always remember that there's more to people than their surface behavior shows. Perhaps this verse describes you as well right now. What can you do to lift the grief of someone else? Pray, certainly. Perhaps send a card or some other expression of your care. Even if your own heart is also heavy, reaching out to others can help your grief, too.

  • Matt. 24&25 Connect w/ 10 Virg Matt. 24&25 Connect w/ 10 Virgin Parable

    • Written by   Dr_Tuney

Well.....in order to understand Matthew Ch. 25 and the 10 virgins, it helps to read Matthew Ch. 24. Both chapters put together describes the Kingdom of God--which is a way of living in the Spirit of God and the Spirit of God living in you. A marriage, if you will, since the two will become One Spirit. You have to constantly live this way; there's no such thing as taking a break from it, and it doesn't matter how you feel from day to day. You must be consistent and always be prepared for GOD's coming. The Kingdom of GOD--the way of living so that you and the Spirit of GOD become One Spirit--will manifest in the appearing of the Messiah. It will come when people least expect it.

The problem is, people think they can manipulate GOD.....and if you think you can manipulate GOD, then you think you can manipulate anyone and everyone else. Most people don't FEEL like being consistent for the Kingdom of GOD; so they figure if they can predict when He will return, then they can live half-hearted for as long as they want, then get their lives together just in time before He shows up. The problem with that is: 1) No one knows when He is coming; He will come when people least expect Him. And when He shows up, you either have it together or you don't. And if you don't have it together, then you won't have time to get it together. 2) Some people are not guaranteed to live to see His coming. What if you are not doing what you're supposed to do, and suddenly die?

Now regarding the parables contained in Matthew Chapters 24 and 25, and the parable of the 10 virgins.....

The Wise Ones are the ones who take the Word of GOD, apply it daily, and are consistent (even if they mess up, they repent and get back up.....they don't make excuses or justify doing wrong). Even when the issues of life and the problems of the world mock the Word of GOD, the Wise Ones still do what they were instructed to do. They refuse to compromise and listen to the world.....They know that Consistency is the key to Breakthrough, and it will be rewarded!!!

The Foolish Ones are the ones who are taught--or mistaught--the Word of GOD, but instead of applying it to their lives, they figure they can manipulate their walk with GOD. They act out their Feelings--mean, jealous, cranky, disrespectful, etc.--and are the first ones to plead "The Blood, the Blood!!!". They sow discord in relationships, turning people against each other. But they're the first ones praising GOD the loudest during Worship services, or have WWJD bumper stickers on their cars. They are in positions of Power in the church NOT to help others, but to toot their own horns; they use and misguide people, and people get hurt--some even turning away from the Faith. The ones who are hurt and turn away from the Faith have not endured to the end. But these Foolish Ones will not take responsibility for how they hurt people. Then they show up for Prayer meetings with their noses up high, and pray the loudest!!! In tongues!!!

Now when the Kingdom of GOD comes, the Wise Believers and the Foolish believers are still Believers.....but one group sought the Kingdom of GOD, while the other did what they Felt. So when the Kingdom of GOD manifests itself, there will be: 1) Wise Believers 2) Foolish Believers 3) Those who turned away 4) Those who didn't believe.

The only group that will be prepared for GOD's coming is the group of Wise Believers. Why? Because they applied the Word of GOD and were consistent up to the moment of His return. The Foolish will try to ride the Wise group's coattail in order to make it into the Kingdom. That's when they say in the scripture: Give us some of your oil (Matt. 25:8)!!! But the Wise Ones said: You already knew He was coming--you just didn't know when--so you should've been ready. You knew you needed oil--you should've had it!!! But because He was late (verse 5), you were too busy wasting time and playing games. Now He has come, and you're not ready.....maybe you can get some oil together before it's too late (verse 9).

The Wise Ones were just being nice.....they knew it was too late when He showed up!!! That's why they're Wise!!! Because they knew they had to Be Ready. No matter when He came. And they still expected Him to show up, even though He was late.

Still, the Foolish--because they think they can Manipulate GOD--think they can get something together at the last minute, so they can justify not doing what they were supposed to do yet still be able to make it into the Kingdom.....but guess what? When they got some oil together--when the Foolish decided to get their stuff together--the doors of the Kingdom had closed (verse 10). The Foolish knocked on the door, saying "let us in!!!"(verse 11). But they were told: I don't even know you!!! You didn't do what you were instructed; your disobedience while I was away said that You don't know Me or take Me seriously, either. So don't act like you know me now, because I finally showed up!!! (verse 12). (See also Matt. 24:36-51)

As for the ones who were hurt and turned away.....because they didn't endure to the end, they miss out as well (see Matt. 24:13). The excuse that you turned from your walk with GOD because someone hurt you is not an acceptable excuse with GOD. So even though the hurt ones miss out, the Foolish Ones have to Reap regret for themselves and for the ones they hurt!!!

As for the Unbelievers: they miss out, because, well.....they didn't believe. Period.

Someone asked me: Does this mean that the Foolish virgins, because they couldn't get into the Kingdom, wind up going to Hell?

The answer to that question is quite complex.

The Foolish that were Believers were still Believers.....so even if they go to Heaven, they miss out on the Blessings and Peace available on Earth--The Kingdom of GOD (His Will and the Manifestation of GOD's Spirit) is supposed to be established and done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

The Unbelievers are Foolish in themselves.....not only were they not prepared, but they didn't even believe in the warnings they heard.

At the same time, the Foolish who happened to think they can get away with their foolish behavior may have a dilemma. 1 John emphasizes that people who say they're saved yet act devilish are not really saved at all.

The Kingdom of GOD is in Heaven, but the Kingdom of GOD is more than just a physical place. Why? Because the Kingdom of GOD can also be on Earth--in and through GOD's people. The Kingdom of GOD is the Manifestation of His Spirit being with you. The ultimate reward is the Spirit of GOD being with you and you being with GOD's Spirit. The two become One Spirit--a Marriage of True Heavenly Bliss!!! The Kingdom of GOD consists of all the things available to you by GOD's Spirit, while on Earth and also when you get to Heaven. Being seperated from GOD is Hell on Earth, then Hell for eternity in the Spirit realm. So it's like saying that the Manifestation of the Spirit of GOD is Heaven.

The concept of Heaven vs. Hell for eternity is another subject.....the UnBelieving go to Hell, yet those who say they Believe with their mouths but don't believe in their hearts often live in disobedience to GOD's Word--and they are also in trouble as far as their destiny is concerned. Deep stuff!!!

Most of the emphasis in this blog was placed on the Wise Virgins vs. the Foolish Virgins.....but both groups interacted with those who were hurt and turned away, as well as with those who just didn't believe. In other words, it would be safe to say that both chapters 24 and 25 work together to spread a basic message: Be Ready at all times!!!

      Creflo Dollar

Some people teach that God chastens, or disciplines people, with sickness and disease, car wrecks, plane crashes, and things of that nature. When bad things happen, you may hear someone say, “Well, that's the correction of the Lord.” But how many of you know that's not true? God does not use sickness and disease, car wrecks, plane crashes, or anything tragic to correct or discipline you, or try to teach you a lesson. I mean, what kind of lesson are you going to learn if He puts sickness and disease on you, and you die? What was the lesson to be learned? You're dead! God has been grossly misrepresented over the years.

God is a good God! Jesus referred to Him as “Abba Father” (Mark 14:36). The Word “Abba” describes an intensely intimate relationship with a father. And another thing, God doesn't have love; God is love! (1 John 4:8). His heart is full of mercy and compassion for you, not judgment. God loves you with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3).

Hebrews 12:5, 6 (AMP) says “Have you [completely] forgotten the divine word of appeal and encouragement in which you are reasoned with and addressed as sons? My son, do not think lightly or scorn to submit to the correction and discipline of the Lord, nor lose courage and give up and faint when you are reproved or corrected by Him. For the Lord corrects and disciplines everyone whom He loves, and He punishes, even scourges, every son whom He accepts and welcomes to His heart and cherishes.

The Lord corrects, disciplines, and chastens everyone He loves. How? He uses His Word. He reproves with His Word; not with car accidents, sickness, or disease. The Bible says the thief, who is the devil, comes to kill, steal, and destroy; Jesus came to give you abundant life! (John 10:10).

As Christian people, we cannot despise correction from the Lord. When you despise something, you have a strong distaste for it; it disgusts you; you scorn it; it even offends you. I've met Christians who have gotten offended when correction was brought into their lives through a Word of the Lord: “Well, I can't believe you told me that.” They failed to realize that the correction was intended to keep them from making a wrong turn, going down the wrong road, having a wreck, and then blaming it on God.

Hebrews 12, verse 7, says, “You must submit to and endure [correction] for discipline; God is dealing with you as with sons. For what son is there whom his father does not [thus] train and correct and discipline?” If there’s no evidence of God’s correction in your life, you have to wonder, am I a son, or am I illegitimate, and not God’s son at all? (Hebrews 12:8, AMP).

The chastisement of the Lord brings about correction through His Word. It simply means child training. If you’re God's child, He’s going be the parent, and child training is the requirement. He’ll use His Word to discipline and correct you, not for His profit, but for your profit. So don’t resist it; welcome it! You’re not an illegitimate child! You’re a child of God! Welcome His correction as kindness and as a demonstration of His unwavering, unfailing, never- ending love for you!

“For [our earthly fathers] disciplined us for only a short period of time and chastised us as seemed proper and good to them; but He disciplines us for our certain good, that we may become sharers in His own holiness” (Hebrews 12:10, AMP).

When God disciplines and corrects us, it’s never joyous at the time. In fact, it can even be painful. But God sees the end from the beginning. He’s all-knowing and all-powerful. In my teaching series The True Meaning of Chastisement, I explain why our Heavenly Father chastens us. You never have to fear His correction, because God loves you with an everlasting love! You can trust that submitting to His discipline will always work out for your good!

      today's verse

"We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves. … Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies."

      2 Corinthians 4:7, 10

This is the great Christian paradox: We contain the precious treasure of the light and power of God, but it is in "fragile clay jars"—our weak bodies. But this is precisely what gives glory to God. When people look at us, the point is that they should see not our power and goodness, but God's. People should say of us, "She must know God, because there's no explanation for her life otherwise." There's no explanation for joy amid suffering, or faith amid trials, but that God is real. Does your life make people think this?

      today's verse

"For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."

      2 Corinthians 3:17

God's Spirit give us freedom. Never forget that. Freedom is one of the tests as to whether something is from God. Of course, it's a certain kind of freedom. It's freedom to love, to serve from the heart. If we do not feel free in our service, or in anything else we do, we need to double-check whether we're operating in the Spirit, or whether the Holy Spirit is leading us to do that thing. When the Holy Spirit leads, the freedom we feel is a sign that he is present.

Living Big: Free from the Spirit of Condemnation, Settle it: Jesus took care of sin!

Romans 8: There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Romans 8:For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Romans 5:16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.17 For if by one man's [ADAM] offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) 18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. 19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. 20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: 21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 8:For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

  • Why Christians Should NOT Marr Why Christians Should NOT Marry Unbelievers

    • Written by   Yvonne_Bennett

      by Kathy Keller

Over the course of our ministry, the most common pastoral issue that Tim and I have confronted is probably marriages — either actual or proposed — between Christians and non-Christians.

I have often thought how much simpler it would be if I could remove myself from the conversation and invite those already married to unbelievers do the talking to singles who are desperately trying to find a loophole that would allow them to marry someone who does not share their faith.

That way, I could skip all the Bible passages that urge singles only to "marry in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 7:39) and not "be unequally yoked" (2 Corinthians 6:14), and the Old Testament proscriptions against marrying the foreigner, a worshiper of a god other than the God of Israel (see Numbers 12 where Moses marries a woman of another race, but the same faith).

You can find those passages in abundance, but when someone has already allowed his or her heart to become engaged with a person outside the faith, I find that the Bible has already been devalued as the non-negotiable rule of faith and practice.

Instead, variants of the serpent's question to Eve — "Did God really say?" — are floated, as if somehow this case might be eligible for an exemption, considering how much they love each other, how the unbeliever supports and understands the Christian's faith, how they are soul-mates despite the absence of a shared soul-faith.

Having grown weary and impatient, I want to snap and say, "It won't work, not in the long run. Marriage is hard enough when you have two believers who are completely in harmony spiritually. Just spare yourself the heartache and get over it." Yet such harshness is neither in line with the gentleness of Christ, nor convincing.

      Sadder and Wiser.

If only I could pair those sadder and wiser women — and men — who have found themselves in unequal marriages (either by their own foolishness or due to one person finding Christ after the marriage had already occurred) with the blithely optimistic singles who are convinced that their passion and commitment will overcome all obstacles.

Even the obstacle of bald disobedience need not apply to them. Only 10 minutes of conversation— one minute if the person is really succinct— would be necessary. In the words of one woman who was married to a perfectly nice man who did not share her faith: "If you think you are lonely before you get married, it's nothing compared to how lonely you can be AFTER you are married!"

Really, this might be the only effective pastoral approach: to find a man or woman who is willing to talk honestly about the difficulties of the situation and invite them into a counseling ministry with the about-to-make-a-big-mistake unequal couple.

As an alternative, perhaps some creative filmmaker would be willing to run around the country, filming individuals who are living with the pain of being married to an unbeliever, and create a montage of 40 or 50 short (under 5 minutes) firsthand accounts. The collective weight of their stories would be powerful in a way that no secondhand lecture ever would be.

      Three True Outcomes.

For the moment, though, here goes: There are only three ways an unequal marriage can turn out, (and by unequal I am willing to stretch a point and include genuine, warm Christians who want to marry an in-name-only Christian, or someone very, very far behind them in Christian experience and growth):

      1. In order to be more in sync with your spouse, the Christian will have to push Christ to the margins of his or her life.

This may not involve actually repudiating the faith, but in matters such as devotional life, hospitality to believers (small group meetings, emergency hosting of people in need), missionary support, tithing, raising children in the faith, and fellowship with other believers, those things will have to be minimized or avoided in order to preserve peace in the home.

      2. Alternatively, if the believer in the marriage holds on to a robust Christian life and practice, the non-believing PARTNER will have to be marginalized.

If he or she can't understand the point of Bible study and prayer, or missions trips, or hospitality, then he or she can't or won't participate alongside the believing spouse in those activities. The deep unity and oneness of a marriage cannot flourish when one partner cannot fully participate in the other person's most important commitments.

      3. So either the marriage experiences stress and breaks up;

Or it experiences stress and stays together, achieving some kind of truce that involves one spouse or the other capitulating in some areas, but which leaves both parties feeling lonely and unhappy.

Does this sound like the kind of marriage you want? One that strangles your growth in Christ or strangles your growth as a couple, or does both?

Think back to that oft cited passage in 2 Corinthians 6:14 about being "unequally yoked." Most of us no longer live in an agrarian culture, but try to visualize what would happen if a farmer yoked together, say, an ox and a donkey. The heavy wooden yoke, designed to harness the strength of the team, would be askew as the animals are of different heights and weights, and walk at different speeds and with different gaits.

The yoke, instead of harnessing the power of the team to complete the task, would rub and chafe BOTH animals, since the load would be distributed unequally. An unequal marriage is not just unwise for the Christian, it is also unfair to the non-Christian, and will end up being a trial for them both.

      Our Experience.

Full disclosure: One of our sons began spending time a few years back with a secular woman from a Jewish background. He heard us talk about the sorrows (and disobedience) of being married to a non-Christian for years, so he knew it wasn't an option (something we reminded him of quite forcefully).

Nevertheless, their friendship grew and developed into something more. To his credit, our son told her: "I can't marry you unless you are a Christian, and you can't become a Christian just to marry me. I'll sit with you in church, but if you are serious about exploring Christianity you will have to do it on your own — find your own small group, read books, talk to people other than me."

Fortunately, she is a woman of great integrity and grit, and she set herself to looking into the truth claims of the Bible. As she grew closer to saving faith, to our surprise, our son began growing in his faith in order to keep up with her!

She said to me one day, "You know, your son should never have been seeing me!"

She did come to faith, and he held the water when she was baptized. The next week he proposed, and they have been married for 2 1/2 years, both growing, both struggling, both repenting. We love them both and are so grateful that she is both in our family and also in the body of Christ.

I only mention the above personal history because so many of our friends in the ministry have seen different outcomes — children who marry outside the faith. The takeaway lesson for me is that, even in pastoral homes where the things of God are taught and discussed, and where children have a pretty good window on seeing their parents counsel broken marriages, believing children toy with relationships that grow deeper than they expect, ending in marriages that don't always have happy endings. If this is true in the families of Christian leaders, what of the flock?

We need to hear the voices of men and women who are in unequal marriages and who know, to their sorrow, why it is not merely a disobedient choice, but an unwise one.

Can I just take a few minutes and celebrate how much easier, natural, and more wonderful it is to let the grace of God flow out as a witness in my life instead of trying to manufacture “witnessing?”

I am literally surrounded most of the time by believers – which is a great blessing, but the situation just doesn’t lend itself to evangelism.  I find myself equipping and encouraging more often than reaching out to the lost and, well, the dead.

You know they’re dead, don’t you?

I’ve always heard them referred to as “sinners.”  Well, the fact is, we all sin.  Thankfully, sin has been dealt with, and most effectively, by the King of Kings.  The separation now is that of LIFE and DEATH.  You’re either dead or you’re alive.  When you walk through the crowd in Wal-Mart the next time, remember that.  A good portion of the cart-pushers are just dead – headed for nowhere-ville, with no one to care about their condition, dead hands grabbing cans of green beans and bottles of coffee creamer off the shelves, laughing, joking, crying, cuddling their children, and swiping their cards at the register.

Dead as doornails, the entire lot.

Contrast that with the vibrant color, the inward pulsating warmth, the light that cannot be hidden – the spirit that lives eternally inside of YOU.

And you have the power – the awesome power – to be a funnel for this creation spirit to give birth, and make these eternally dead transformed into the eternally alive.

The problem is, we don’t understand this principle, and so we think we need to get everyone to start changing their behaviors and following a list of rules and regulations, fix their lives to look better and nicer, and more “godly.”  Which is a weird conversation to try to start with someone.  Kirk Cameron gives this a go sometimes on TV.  I have to cover my eyes and watch through my fingers.  It’s awkward.  And it doesn’t really address the whole dead problem.

Back to my story.  As I said, I am surrounded by believers (the living) most of the time.  So it was with no small excitement that I bumped into a nonbeliever at the store.  Let me rephrase.  This beautiful, young dead girl.  She was probably 20 or 22, holding her cell phone, waiting in line to buy some groceries, with unshed tears in her eyes.  Most astonishingly, she actually did look up from her cell phone, and seemed eager to talk to me for some reason.

She flashed her cell phone at me and said, “Did you see this?  She died.  Toni.  You know?  Team Toni?  The girl with the cancer?  Just this morning.”

“Oh yes, I know exactly what you’re talking  about, “ I said, just looking at her.  “So, she finally did die.  That’s heartbreaking.   I hadn’t heard.  She had cancer, didn’t she? “

“Yeah.  Every day she was on Facebook, talking about how she was believing there was going to be a miracle somehow.  Just like, last night, she said that.  I can’t believe it.  And now, just gone.  She was, like, my age, you know.”

I nodded, “I do know.  I actually work at St. Mary’s, and I see folks come in all the time who are young, like you.  They have headaches, aches and pains that just show up for no apparent reason, they come to the ER.  We do a CAT scan, and their brain is full of cancer.  It’s the end.  They’re done.  Over.  Two weeks, and it’s the end.”  I hated to say it, but it’s true.  And the fact is, it bothers me.   I wasn’t saying it to try and get a reaction out of her or scare her.  I feel it every day when I work, and I hate it.  The suddenness of cancer – the unexpected horror.

She just looked at me with wide eyes, “I think I would go crazy.  I have a 4-year-old boy.  What would I do?  What?  I have no idea.  I would go insane.”

I didn’t hesitate then, because I have thought about this same scenario a thousand times.  Every time I hear about or see another case of a life taken too short, I think about how I would handle it, if it were me.  “I wouldn’t go crazy,” I said.  “I have a hope and a future.  This life isn’t everything.  God is more real to me than this buggy – than this food.  And He said He’d never put a burden on me that He wouldn’t give me the grace to bear.  I know He’d take care of my kids, and He’d work everything out for their good.”

She looked down and then away, obviously thinking about it, “I don’t know.  I guess I couldn’t say that.  I don’t live the way I should.”

Here’s an important point:  The dead always think “God” and “Jesus” and “religion” EQUALS “performing good deeds.”  I believe our generation is the generation of Grace and Truth.  It’s our job to stretch out our living hands when we hear statements like this dead girl just made and reach out to her dead arms and pull her out of darkness, into the light where the life of God can make her a new, living creation.  By saying something like this:

“Oh.  Oh, do you really believe a relationship with God is all about doing good?  I have four kids myself.  They’re my children.  Good or bad, I gave birth to them.  That can’t ever change.   When you’re born again, God is your Father.  Having a relationship with God isn’t about doing nice things.  It’s about Him living inside you, about having a living, breathing relationship with your creator.  The good news is that Jesus actually was perfect, and I have His spirit living within me.  If it had to do with being perfect all the time, none of us would be able to have a relationship with God.  And we would have never needed the only one who was perfect – Jesus.   Because of Him, I know I’ll step out of this life – no matter when, and into eternity with Him.”

The dead girl was waiting for me to hit her over the head with the Bible and tell her how she needed to get back into church or get her life straight.  She wasn’t expecting grace.  And grace is the “goodness of God that brings men to repentance.”  I could see her burden beginning to lift.  Her face beginning to turn towards her Father.  I could just see the look in her eyes.  Could it be true?  Could she be accepted?  Could she have hope, even in her circumstance?  Could she have the kind of peace that would save her from going insane if her life took a turn down the darkest of roads?

The answer is yes, and amen.

There’s so much more power in letting God’s grace and good news flow naturally than trying to condemn the already dead.  They don’t need more death.  They need life.

But, shouldn’t I have told her what she needs to do? I couldn’t just let her go off and think that she could just have a relationship with God without behaving consistently and doing….

      Whoa!  Time out!

That’s not my job.  It’s the work of the Holy Spirit in her heart that will transform her life – it will be the out-flowing of a genuine relationship she has with her Father.  I’m not saying she doesn’t need to be discipled and nurtured as a new believer, but her identity in this new life is much more important than whether or not she can sit on a moral high horse.

And the horse doesn’t bring life.

I don’t know when the opportunity will happen again, but as I’m reminded how easy and natural it is to give away truly good news, perhaps I’ll  go shopping more often.

"The prudent understand where they are going,
        but fools deceive themselves."

      Proverbs 14:8

Do you carefully think through the consequences of the choices you make? For instance, if you take on a new commitment, how will that affect your family? If you habitually spend too much time watching television or surfing the Internet, what important things may get left undone? If you spend money on an item you don't really need, will you be able to pay the credit card bill when it comes due? Ask yourself—ask God—"What is it I'm not seeing?" Don't deceive yourself—look where you're going!

  • Live by God's Standard of Comp Live by God's Standard of Competition

    • Written by   cool3disk

Competition improves the lives of people, if they compete according to God's standards; furthermore, we as Christians must pinpoint our efforts on giving to and serving other people. Society and the media may teach us that we all need competition to have fun, improve our skills, or to keep prices down on a variety of goods (For the sake of good business). However, understand that only correct competition improves the skills of people, provides excitement, and keeps prices down. Too often, many people are competing in situations that they should not be competing in. Like, they may box without being present in a boxing match. Then they compete incorrectly when the time comes for them to compete. As if, a right way to compete simply does not exist. For instance, they may cheat during competition and God tells us that is not the right way to compete (With 2 timothy 2:5). Society's bad competing causes drama almost every single time they compete. Many people have caught on to society's disruptive way of competing and called competing itself bad. Competing represents all that is good when done correctly. Competing becomes a sin when done improperly as it then goes against God's word. God does not have a problem with people competing against each other or competing itself. God only has a issue when the action of competing is done incorrectly. The bible actually has scriptures pertaining to competition, sports, and athletes. 1st Corinthians 9:25-27 in the bible for example tells us", Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable wreath". 1st Corinthians 9:25 reminds us to exercise self control as athletes. For we are more important than the perishable item that we compete for. Know that 1st Corinthians 9:25-27 only represents just one section of the bible confirming God's notice of competition. Get ready, this blog will teach one the correct way to compete.

Just like the acts of arguing, sex, *masturbation, or judging were made for a good cause by God. God created mankind and competition for a good cause. Competition gives two or more people a chance to compare their skills against one another. See, competition was supposed to be just one more natural way for the teacher to teach the student (Or a way for the best to give to the worse). The idea behind competing was to help improve or build up the competition for the better. Never to crush the competition or use competing in a way to determine lifestyles for people. For instance, if two teams were to compete against each other in a sport called Football. Of course, the bible says competitors should play to win and follow the rules. 1st Corinthians 9:24 says", Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it." Then the football teams should be sure to follow the rules as 2nd Timothy 2:5 reminds us," An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules." After the two football teams engage into competition and a clear winner is decided between the two teams. Both teams are supposed to basically help each other, tell each other how to improve, congratulate each other, and show plenty of respect towards one another. Philippians 2:3-4 teaches," Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others".

1.) Never compete to hurt someone else physically, mentally, and spiritually in any way. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. Always look to improve your opponent.

2.) Never compete without a proper cause. Meaning, if no sport, board game, video game, person to help, or game period is present then do not compete. Trying to beat another person to the exit by walking faster than them for example represents an improper time to compete. There's no meaning to that competition (It's out of place). Also, avoid dangerous games that one is not trained or positioned for. Don't box outside the sport of boxing.

3.) Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Refuse to talk trash to the other opponent. Show respect towards the opponent throughout the whole contest.

Learn these rules above and practice them. Move to please God first and not to compete first.

Unfortunately, the world does not see competition as a biblical practice; moreover, the world misuses competition and ruins the good purpose of competition. If God created mankind and competition for a good cause. Satan, the God of the world (Refer to 2 Corinthians 4:4), perverted competition and used competition to determine the lifestyle of men. Mankind lives within Satan's world and operates their systems according to his rules. This is how Satan runs his world," Someone who was involved in the occult quoted "Satan's entire kingdom runs on the principle of competition; just the opposite of God's kingdom where everyone serves each other. (See http://www.mt.net/~watcher/bluey.html)That report describes how witches compete for demons to destroy each other." People's lifestyles are determined (created) by how well they compete in Satan's system. Satan believes that the weakest should serve the strongest. Therefore, the world ignores the what bible says about competition and follows Satan's doctrine. The world does not comprehend how to compete correctly. The world constitutes as a place where everyone selfishly looks out for themselves. The winning businesses, sports teams, or board game players usually do not help the losers improve. The more powerful competitors in America often take their winnings, look to crush the weakest competitors, and go run off into the sunset as monopolies. That way, no one can really improve and become better they are with their help. The world believes in self effort, that a person's life should be decided on competition, and building up one's self from nothing. Then the best competitors believe the worse competitors should find a way on their own to compete. How could anyone think this sorry idea of competing was ever the right way the way to determine lifestyles for people? The top competiter just takes everything for themselves until someone finally is able to compete with them. Society does not follow God's way of competing fully. Society does not mean correct and Godly competition when society talks about competition. They just mean that their version of competition itself depicts good, regardless of if their version is done by God's standards or not.

Society actually only tries to include a few of God's rules with their idea of competition. Such as, the exclusion of cheating, showing good sportsmanship, and placing in the hard work to win (Refer to 2nd Timothy 2:5 and 1st Corinthians 9:24 in bold above). The world tries hard to enforce breaking rules with laws and to motivate it's citizen to work hard by offering social goals like the American Dream. Our society does not truly teach people how to correctly compete nor does society associate God's name or ways with competing at all. When the other rules come up like no competing out of rivalry, no boasting, be lead by God and not competition, or etc. The world could certainly care less about those bible teachings. If 2 rivalry football teams like Georgia Tech and Georgia could said they compete out of old-fashioned hate every year. The world would not care about those 2 football team's bad competing. The world thinks competing out of rivalry or anger is okay, along with the rest of those other wrong actions. People may shake their head at a person or dislike a person who brags while competing, but they won't send that boastful person to prison. America claims to compete for everything and never get in trouble for competing incorrectly. Soon America will suffer the consequences for competing wrong. The world's idea of competing comes an "Survival of the Fittest" mind set. "Survival of the Fittest" was made into a society called an Empire*. An Empire has people who maintain a "Empire State of Mind" that comes from Satan himself. Animals, for example, live by "Survival of the fittest" because they have to survive. Sports teams, for instance, play by "Survival of the fittest" to a certain degree because they have to find the best of them. No persons lifestyle was ever supposed to be determined by how well they compete. Humans do not have use competition to find the best. People are supposed live in structure where they help each other become "Fit to Survive". A place where the most talented people show their talents through helping others. Christians must live according the God's way, since the world has chosen not to. There are way too many Christians who believe in Satan's form of competition (Let's hope that it's unknowingly). The bible tells God's word and the truth about how to correctly compete. Christians must take a stand by following God's truth and compete the way God intended mankind to do so.

A society built off competition period not only is evil, but ultimately biased towards competitive driven spirits. Jesus teaches us in Matthew chapter 6," Take heed you do not do you do not do your deeds before, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your father in heaven". A society depends on competition first, not God first, when it is built off competition. A competition built society does not line up with what Matthew chapter 6 says and this truth makes an act of evil. God comes first, one breaks spiritual law when one goes against his word, and he may not want a group of people to build their society off competition. God told Abram in Genesis 12:3," I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curse you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." God could have already blessed one person to bless another person until the blessing came to one. Just like how God blessed Abram to bless all peoples on earth through him. Yet, how would one know God decided to bless people this way, if one only moved based off competition first like Matthew chapter 6 teaches us not to do? Look to please God first, besides competition will not help everyone. Everyone was not born as natural competitors and won't thrive off of competition. Only the most competitive people will always push themselves to compete better. A teacher would be benefited to use a person's high competitive drive to help them succeed at a desired task. Such as, helping them control their competitiveness, mastering their chess skills, or to even improve their driving skills. God has graced these individuals with a good competitive drive to help them. Often though, they can run into problems due to their competitive drive in our society. In a society where they are tempted to compete often can lead to many problems for them. Highly competitive people can have a hard time knowing when to stop competing at times. Also, highly competitive people can be tempted to compete improperly a little easier. Most likely due to them wanting to win so much. Their competitive nature essentially then becomes a thorn in their flesh.

      Message To Everyone:

Highly competitive people are not the only people who can compete wrong. Be content with what God gave you and do not compare yourself to anyone else (focus on what you can give instead). If one stops comparing and starts looking to give then one will always be two steps a ahead of ever becoming overly competitive (Jealous or etc). God gave one something special, so one should improve on and be proud of one's godly gift. Also, learn to give, teach, and serve to one's competition. Two strong competitors who build themselves will always improve themselves faster than strong one competitor can. Plenty of people will continue, even after reading this blog, to compete wrongly. However, secretly bad mouthing people for their unrighteous competing does not stand as the right action to take. Especially if they are looking change their ways and if they struggle in the area of resisting improper competing. Understand, the pesky temptation to compete out of place can be hard to resist, especially when the opportunity to compete presents itself. Forgive and look to help those people who suffer difficulty with the act improper competing. Teach them to stop comparing, write down the rules of competing for them to follow, or try engaging them into a sport where they can compete.

         Notes:

1.) The 1 percent of America in income believes everyone should work for them since they are the strongest competitors. They don't believe in helping anyone else become better than or as good them at gaining income. The "Shocking Wealth Equality of America" video ( Link to the video here http://www.cdmsociety.com/_The-Shocking-Wealth-Inequality-of-America/video/1825422/183368.html ) proves that they do not want any competition.

2.)* "Masturbation is a sin" was actually one of top contenders for the "Bible Misquotes" blog. Many people actually believe that they are suppose live their lives ignoring their sexual organs regularly. Mostly likely due to some over religious pastor, congregation, person, or etc telling them that anything sexual outside of marriage is a sin. The belief that masturbation proves to a sin is wrong. Mankind was not created to live as singles or married individuals without ever using their sexual organs. Nobody ever tells one not to use the other organs of body, but somehow one must avoid using one's sexual organs (That's makes no sense). Once everyone finds out that they cannot live as if their sexual organs do not exist. Most people go ahead and resort to handling their sexual needs through fornication usually. They are not told that masturbation helps them and stop fornication. Click here: http://cool3disk.blogspot.com/2013/05/masturbation-comprises-as-erotic.html to learn why masturbation does not register as a sin.

3.) Society likes to show a false version of showing humbleness and sportsmanship. Notice, this why teams and players shake hands with each other after the game. They don't really share their knowledge on how they won, tell the other team how to improve, or care about the other team. We as Christians must change first and set the example. We must incorporate the main focus on helping each other in our lives, businesses, and just our environment. You know, stop all the pointless competing and compete correctly in the right situations. Like, no churches should be ever be competing with each other. I mean, if you just have to compete then at least help each other in the process. We actually need our own country or environment though. I do not think that we can change the world (At least not at this point in time) . We are supposed to be the light and salt of the world until Jesus comes back (Then we are gone from here). But, until jesus comes back, we are going to enter into power positions of the world. So, once we enter into power postitions in the world. Like, through maybe our own business or another company. We got to represent God and be that light of the world. Then, most importantly, help each other get into power positions, so we can be the light of the world.

4.) Notice, the evil group in the movie series "Star Wars" is called "The Empire" (The good side is known as "The Republic"). "The Empire" specially replies on competition to decide the society's leader. The leader does not look to help anyone become more powerful than him or her. This evil side believes that by making everyone serve the mightiest competitor (Darth Vader was the strongest warrior). They keep themselves strong as the best competition, who must constantly guard themselves from the weakest competition, always raises to the top. They, unfortunately, are actually weakening themselves. If their head leader falls then their whole society will fall. Not only did they compete incorrectly, but they formed a whole society of incorrect competing. Ironically, America watched the movie series "Star Wars" and did not even recognize that their own society was operated equally to Empire society from the movie.

      today's verse

      "They did not conquer the land with their swords;
it was not their own strong arm that gave them victory.
It was your right hand and strong arm
and the blinding light from your face that helped them,
        for you loved them.
You are my King and my God.
        You command victories for Israel.
      Only by your power can we push back our enemies;
only in your name can we trample our foes.
      I do not trust in my bow;
I do not count on my sword to save me.
      You are the one who gives us victory over our enemies;
you disgrace those who hate us.
O God, we give glory to you all day long
        and constantly praise your name."

      Psalm 44:3–8

Remember that any success you experience is meant for God's credit. Acknowledge that whatever you need to "conquer" today, you can do it by God's power. Trust in that, lean on it. Confess your own weakness and need for God to do it for you, whatever it is. Then give him the praise and glory for whatever success comes your way.

      today's verse

Romans 1: 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Jesus is our Grace, Gospel of Christ is the Gospel of Grace

Just=Righteous, We are righteous by Jesus

Romans 5: 17 For if by one man's [Adam] offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

Receiving is taking into possession (in your mind, thinking, living)

      Have faith, believe and receive

Head Games: Don’t allow the enemy to intervene and take your righteousness

It’s not about anything we’ve done or haven’t done. It’s all about what Jesus has done.

Declare:  ‘I am the righteousness of God in faith by Jesus Christ!’

Romans 5: 19 For as by one man's [Adam] disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one [Jesus] shall many be made righteous.

What’s the context? Without the text it leaves you with a con.

      Romans 3:2323 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

      Backup…

Romans 3: 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

I’ve been saved! I’m a new creation! The new roots will bring forth new fruit!

      2 Corinthians 5: 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

God reconciles up to Him through Jesus, restoring man back into His favor!

2 Corinthians 5: 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Romans 4: What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

It’s always about what Jesus has don’t (not what we do) Galatians 2: 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

The grace of God answers you in your most undeserving moments

Romans 11:And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Stay established in your righteousness in Jesus!

      today's verse

"But if an angel from heaven appears—
a special messenger to intercede for a person
and declare that he is upright—
he will be gracious and say,
      'Rescue him from the grave,
for I have found a ransom for his life.'
Then his body will become as healthy as a child's,
        firm and youthful again.
      When he prays to God,
        he will be accepted.
And God will receive him with joy
and restore him to good standing.
He will declare to his friends,
'I sinned and twisted the truth,
but it was not worth it.
God rescued me from the grave,
and now my life is filled with light.'"

      Job 33:23–28

This is a picture of the new covenant—what Jesus does for the believer. In Jesus, we have a "special messenger to intercede for a person." Jesus paid the ransom. God accepts us because Jesus declares us "upright." Our lives are full of light because of Jesus. Notice that God receives us with joy. Today, let this wonderful picture of Jesus' work—predicted centuries before it came to pass—sink into your heart and give you joy. Revel in God's own joy in you! And don't forget the last part—tell others what God has done for you!
